Lily's Playlist

Playlist           By Lily Cronin

First meeting at dance

The song I’m choosing for when Romeo and Juliet first meeting is the song ”love at first sight” by Kylie Minogue.

“And everything went from wrong to right

And the stars came out to fill up the sky

The music you were playing really blew my mind

It was love at first sight”

This pretty much explains how Romeo and Juliet’s night went. First it started off all wrong. Juliet didn’t love Paris and Romeo was all sad because of Rosiline. Then when their eyes met everything went right. The music was playing and they fell in love at first sight. Romeo expresses his interest when he says “Oh, she doth teach the torches to burn bright!

It seems she hangs upon the cheek of night

Like a rich jewel in an Ethiope’s ear,

Beauty too rich for use, for earth too dear.”

To a capulet. He wants to meet Juliet because he claims that he already loves her.

Balcony scene

The song I’m choosing for the balcony scene is “A moment like this” by Kelly Clarkson

“A Moment like this.

Some people wait a lifetime for a moment like this.

Some people search forever for that one special kiss.

I cant believe its happening to me.

Some people wait a lifetime for a moment like this. “

I picked this song because when Romeo and Juliet admit their true feelings of love to each other, they have an amazing moment, like how Kelly is singing about. An epic moment. Romeo tells Juliet this “With love’s light wings did I o'erperch these walls,

For stony limits cannot hold love out,

And what love can do, that dares love attempt.

Therefore thy kinsmen are no stop to me.”

Which he is telling her that he is in-love with her, and no wall could hold him back from seeing her.

Fighting scene

For the fighting scene, I picked the song “let the bodies hit the floor” by Drowning pool.

“Let the bodies hit the floor

Let the bodies hit the floor

Let the bodies hit the floor

Now!

Push me again (again)

This is the end

Here we go here we go here we go, now”

I picked this song because he talks about how the bodies hit the floor (like killing them) and in the fighting scene Mercutio and Tybalt die in the end.

Also at the end it says this is the end, and says here we go. That means lets go and fight. Mercutio says this to Tybalt, “Good King of Cats, nothing but one of your nine lives, that I mean to make bold withal, and, as you shall use me hereafter, dry-beat the rest of the eight. Will you pluck your sword out of his pilcher by the ears? Make haste, lest mine be about your ears ere it be out.”

When he said this to Tybalt, he is saying he want to kill him, (take one of his nine lives) This connects to this song because they both talk about killing.

Funeral scene

For the funeral scene, I’m choosing the song “my heart will go on” by Celine Dion.

“Near, far, wherever you are

I believe that the heart does go on.

Once more you open the door

And you're here in my heart

And my heart will go on and on

Love can touch us one time

And last for a lifetime

And never let go till we're gone”

I picked this song because it talks about how her heart is in his heart. This reminds me of how Romeo and Juliet died; as one. This song is compared to them because the song explains how someone’s heart goes on. Romeo and Juliet died together, meaning their hearts will go on together to heaven.

Playlist!!!!

1 - The Postal Service » Such Great Heights
"After all, pilgrims touch the hands of statues of saints. Holding one palm against another is like a kiss."
" I am thinking it's a sign that the freckles, In our eyes are mirror images and when, We kiss they're perfectly aligned"
-The connection the story and the song have is that when Romeo and Juliet meet there eyes meet and hand touch, so the story explains how they connect instantly, and the song shows the same meaning.

2 - AJ Rafael » Starlit Nights
"Romeo, why do you have to be Romeo? Forget about your father and change your name. "
"The way the stars impact your crazy mind, it makes me leave everything behind."

-In the story and the song they are expressing how the feeling of connection but still some separation hold them so far apart but still close together.

3 - Imogen Heap » Hide and Seek
"Is the Prince’s punishment any less awful than doomsday?"
"The dust has only just begun to form, crop circles in the carpet, sinking feeling"

-The story and the song both express that the punishment that they will receive or think they will receive will be grave and horrible. by Romeo saying what he said it relates to the sinking feeling they explain in the song.

4 - Ecstacy of Gold » Ennio Morricone
"Oh, my love! My wife! Death has sucked the honey from your breath, but it has not yet ruined your beauty."
       Climatic part of song.

-There are no words to the song Ecstacy of Gold by Ennio Morricone, but i believe this song tells the ending of this story very well. There are no words that explain how Romeo, or Juliet feel about death. there really ae no words to explain to anyone about death. the reason i picked this song is because the notes in this piece can give you the emotions you need to understand a bit more than you think you do.

Police Report!!!!!!!

Day: Monday

Time: 11:45

Crime: Murder!!

The alleged killer, Romeo Montague, killed a young man Tybalt Capulet. It seemed that the killing of Mercucio Montague was an “accident”. Before the killing of Tybalt Capulet, Mercucio and Tybalt were involved in there very own “fake fight”. We cannot be sure if it was a “fake fight” or not. But the witnesses at the seen reported it to be.

I was standing at a court yard patrolling the left sector when I heard shouting and hollering. I walked over to tell them to quiet down or a sitation would be issued for disturbing the peace, but when I got there I saw Romeo Montague hit Tybalt into Mercucio, with the sword in his hand, Tybalt stabbed Mercucio in the heart. About ten minutes later Romeo and Tybalt started to fight. Romeo looked blood thirsty in the eyes. Romeo diliberatly after I yelled stopped stabbed Tybalt in the heart. Tybalt died almost instantly. The Capulets went to assist Tybalt before he died, but could not save him. Romeo the killer, fled the scene of the crime before I could get his information to take him in and question his reason for killing Tybalt Capulet.

Lily's Police report

Police Report

A Fight broke out today causing two deaths. Witnesses explain the fight as silly, but tragic. It was never supposed to happen. When Tybalt, a Capulet, picks a fight with Mercutio things get a little out of control. It is said that this fight was mostly playful, and pretty much a joke. But, things get ugly by the end. Romeo Montague was said to be the guy trying to break up the fight, getting between the two angry fellows. When this happens it startles tybalt and he stabs Mercutio. One of mercutio’s friends describes Tybalt’s expression as horrified. It was almost like Tybalt didn’t mean to kill him. Since the fight was a joke to the crowd, and didn’t seem serious, nobody realized that Mercutio was seriously injured. Everyone thought it was just an act to get a laugh out of the crowd. When Mercutio finally falls to the ground showing his wound dripping with blood, the crowd was in shock. Mercutio died after a few minutes of this discovery. Tybalt is long gone after this. Being Mercutio’s best friend, Romeo hunts Tybalt down and declares war against the two of them. Romeo fights Tybalt for revenge. His anger rushing throughout Romeo’s body, he kills Tybalt. After Romeo realizes what he has done, he freaks out once again, witnesses explain. The king was notified and Romeo almost was put to death until someone explained what really happened. Instead of a death-sentence, Romeo was banished from Verona. More information is still trying to be discovered.
